For as much as I enjoyed this book, I have to say, the number of novels involving Victorian prostitutes and paedophilia, is starting to get a little to predominant for me. Such an amazing number of things happened during this period that this constant depiction is depressing. The story isn't as hard to follow as what you might think. There aren't that many characters to keep track of (I've read FAR worse) but the narrator asides do get tiresome. A good easy read really. I read it in four days during the commute to and from work.
